Dessa - Alibi

Castor, the Twin is a studio album from Dessa, a member of Minneapolis indie hip hop collective Doomtree. It was released on Doomtree in 2011. The album features new arrangements of her previously released songs. The original production has been replaced with live instrumentation on piano, vibraphone, mandolin, viola, double bass and timpani. The final track "The Beekeeper" is an advance single from Dessa’s next album due in 2013.

I absolutely do not get the hype around Nicki Minaj. But maybe that just means I am getting old. And now she has been named a judge on American Idol? A rapper judging a singing contest. Sure. Anyway, while I haven't figured out the hype around her, I absolutely LOVE Minneapolis' own Dessa. She knocks it out of the park so often it's not funny. Singer, rapper, songwriter, and a very unique sound. And listening to Dessa makes me feel young and alive.
