People in Minneapolis Don't Believe These 5 Locations Are the Best in Minneapolis

Can you believe that some people actually compare the Minneapolis Skyline to the Oz skyline from the Wizard of Oz? It is remarkable what people think these days. This blog writer thinks a place called Boom Island is a good spot to see that Minneapolis Skyline. Take a look at this view and tell me what you think:
5 Scenic Locations to View and Photograph the Minneapolis Skyline

The writer goes on to state other places to view the skyline from. You have to check it out to believe it!

No Minneapolis Skyline

This photo is taken from a very popular location to get a nice view of the downtown Minneapolis skyline. The photo features the Stone Arch Bridge, the Mississippi River, the Mill City Ruins, but the skyline of this beautiful city is completely obscured by a thick blanked of fog.

On the day before Halloween, 2013, Minneapolis was covered in a blanked of fog. This photo captures a park along the Mississippi River on the opposite side of Downtown Minneapolis.

The Minneapolis 35W Spaghetti Junction

This eye pleasing and spectacular photo of Minneapolis features the fantastic downtown skyline, as well as the evening traffic flow on 35W and I-94. The headlights and taillights of the passing traffic make beautiful eye-pleasing painted light in this photo. The photo also features the IDS Tower, the Capella Tower, the Wells Fargo Center, and of course the Foshay.

Minneapolis From 35W

This stunning photo features the Oz like downtown skyline of Minneapolis. I took this one while standing on a pedestrian bridge that spans 35W where it joins in with I-94. It is a fantastic spot to get shots of the skyline. Featured in this photo are the former IDS Tower, the Capella Tower, the Wells Fargo Center, Target Plaza South, and of course the Foshay.

Jaw Dropping Beautiful Fireworks Photos

I went out and found a fantastic spot to photograph the Minneapolis Aquatennial fireworks on July 20th, 2013. I have taken many fireworks photos that have made many people say "wow!", but this was easily my best night of shooting fireworks. The entire night, the location I picked, the downtown Minneapolis skyline, the Mississippi river and the colorful lights reflecting on it, the beautifully lit up 35W bridge, and of course the main event, the fireworks. Below are a few of the pics from the night. If you want to see the entire gallery, just bang your mouse here.

The Mississippi, The New Lowry Bridge, The Minneapolis Skyline

I took this photo from the 42nd Ave Bridge in Minneapolis. This beautiful night time photo features the mighty Mississippi River, the new and beautifully lit Lowry Ave Bridge that spans the river, and the fantastic Minneapolis Skyline. Both the new bridge and the skyline have their lights reflected in the river.

Minneapolis Skyline at Dusk

The sun had just set and had left a very beautiful glow in the sky of orange, purple and blue colors. Those colors made a fantastic background to the fantastic Minneapolis Skyline in this photo I took from along highway 280 to the east of the city.

This photo features the Witch's Hat Tower at Prospect Park in Minneapolis. The tower is sitting on the highest natural land area in Minneapolis. The tower is one of the few original water towers standing today in the Twin Cities area.

Prospect Park is a historic neighborhood within the University community of the U.S. city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The area is bounded by theMississippi River to the south, the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota to the east, the Burlington Northern railroad yard to the north, and the Stadium Village commercial district of the University of Minnesota to the west. The neighborhood is composed of several districts which include the East River Road area.

An urban village once served by streetcar, Prospect Park is now a combination of multiple districts and uses. Families live in single-family homes onTower Hill while University students reside in apartment housing in the western districts. Estate homes of the early to mid 20th century line East River Road. The South East Industrial Area (SEMI) in the north contains light manufacturing, rail yards and remnant grain silos. University Avenue houses a mix of retail and restaurant businesses from the Stadium Village area.

Minneapolis Background

This isn't my normal style of photography, but I gave it a try and I kind of like it. This photo features the Minneapolis skyline and a frozen Mississippi river. What makes this photo different for me is the subject is angled and out of focus making the entire photo bokeh instead of just the background. This photo would make a wonderful background image.

The Carlyle Winter

The Carlyle is a condo tower in downtown Minneapolis. In this winter photo, I captured it, along with the Hennepin Ave. Bridge in the evening as there was still some light left in the sky, as the lights from downtown reflected off the partially frozen Mississippi River.

Minneapolis Winter

I took this nighttime photo of the beautiful city of Minneapolis while standing on Boom Island on a cold winter night. Boom Island located right across the Mississippi river from downtown Minneapolis and provides some great views for photography and people out enjoying their day.

Lowry Avenue Bridge with Reflection

This is a very beautiful photo of the newly completed Lowry Avenue bridge that spans the Mississippi river in north Minneapolis. The lights in the arch change color for different events or holidays, so I will have to come back and get photos of the different colors in the future. Lightning Strike and Lowry Bridge

William Drew Photography: Minneapolis Photography and Photos &emdash; Lowry Bridge and Lightning

The city of Minneapolis recently completed construction on a new Lowry Street Bridge that spans the Mississippi River in northeast Minneapolis. This bridge is certainly an eye catcher. As I was out photographing it, a very brief and small thunderstorm passed just north of us, which put the storm directly in the background of the bridge I was shooting. This shot captures one of those lightning strikes.
