William Drew Photography: Magic Kingdom Photography &emdash; The Other Side of Cinderella's Castle

I took this long-exposure photo of Cinderella's Castle while standing near the Prince charming Regal Carousel. I Was able to get some of the night time stars to show up, which is a nice addition with how bright the castle is.

Mayhem.

Aaron Rogers should have All State instead of State Farm so he could be protected from mayhem like this.

National Talk Like A Pirate Day is Wednesday, September 19th. In honor of that, I bring to you my favorite photo of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Walt Disney World in Florida.

A Sunset From Up North, eh

This is a photo of the sun setting on Lake Superior. I took the photo at McLain State Park near Calumet, Michigan (which is WAY up north). No palm trees here, just family, picnic benches, and a beautiful sunset.

Prince and His New Song!

Prince appeared on the TV show The View today sporting a new hairdo. You can see the 'do in the pic above. He also had a new song debut on iHeart Radio called "Rock & Roll Love Affair". You can listen to that song by clicking here and listening to it on Dr. Funkenberry's blog.

Dessa >>>>>>>>>> Nikki Minaj

I absolutely do not get the hype around Nicki Minaj. But maybe that just means I am getting old. And now she has been named a judge on American Idol? A rapper judging a singing contest. Sure. Anyway, while I haven't figured out the hype around her, I absolutely LOVE Minneapolis' own Dessa. She knocks it out of the park so often it's not funny. Singer, rapper, songwriter, and a very unique sound. And listening to Dessa makes me feel young and alive. Check out the attached video for Dessa's song The Crow from her recent album "Castor, the Twin", and feel young like me.

How To Lose a Football Game

Let me start out by saying I am a fan of Jared Allen, the defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings. But the guy has to get his head screwed on straight if he is going to help his team win some games. In the teams first game of this 2012 season, he was called for being in the neutral zone on a play he got a sack on. He lost the sack, and also lost a spot to stand up as a leader. Instead of saying something like "I need to watch the ball closer and not give the refs the option to giving me a penalty that hurts the team", he goes on to complain that it shouldn't be a penalty. Now, given, it was a VERY close call. I wasn't surprised that it was called, and I wouldn't have been surprised if it wasn't called. But if the guy is going to be the leader of our defense like he should be, he needs to say the right thing regardless of what he actually feels about the refs call.

And then there was another penalty in the Vikings 2nd game, in which Jared hit the QB after he went out of bounds. Now, again, it was kind of a close play, but Andrew Luck was obviously running out of bounds. You NEVER go after a QB like that on the sideline when he is running out of bounds. It's going to be called. And the fact that he made contact, it will always be a penalty. I don't have an issue with Jared going all out trying to make a play, that is what makes him a great player. But, that leadership thing is again the issue. Did Jared fess up and say he let the team down, like a good leader should have said? No, he didn't. Here is his quote: "I still don't think it's a penalty," Allen said. "They can say what they want ... I didn't even hit him with my shoulder pads. I hit him with my arm. This is football, I thought." Yes, Jared, you hit a QB with your arm, while he was out of bounds. That is a penalty. And that was another opportunity for you to pull up your big boy pants and be the leader this defense needs.

Magic Carpets of Aladdin Ride

This is a time-laps photo of the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride in the Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a fanciful flight for all ages aboard a flying carpet in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom theme park. Soar around a giant genie bottle on your very own magic carpet! This exotic adventure is geared toward younger kids who love to make their carpet go up and down, or pitch forward and back. Be sure to watch out for the camel facing the ride who occasionally spits water at the carpets passing by. But don't worry. It's very unlikely you'll get even a little wet.

Red, White and Boom Fireworks in Minneapolis

I had just upgraded my camera from a Canon 30d to a Canon 60d a few days before the 4th of July this year, and was all excited to shoot the fireworks. Well, ok, I'm always excited to shoot fireworks, but this was with a much newer camera! And as I was getting set up is when my excitement ended. It wasn't until then that I learned that the camera remotes that fit my 30d didn't fit my 60d. That meant I had to touch the camera every shot. I still had the camera all set up on the tripod, but I had to hit the shutter button and hold it in by hand. I still captured the fireworks, but the very slight movement means the beautiful Minneapolis skyline is a just a bit blurry in the background. I already have new remotes, so next year I'll get a better shot of it.
